Get Inky! - Challenge #10

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

Today there is a new challenge over at Blue Moon Creation Crafting Station (aka Get Inky!) challenge.  The theme is "Spring/Easter" and you have till Wednesday, April 15th to get your entries in.

For this week's inspiration, I came up with a card for Easter using the new stamp set "Hoppy Spring 2014" by BMCCS (aka Get Inky!).  When I received this set and saw the tulip image, it reminded me of Easter and new life.  It also reminded me of a picture from a children's picture bible I had seen years (and I do mean years) ago when I was a child about the resurrection of Jesus.  It was a picture of a tomb (at the time, it looked like a cave) with a bright light shining out and around it like a sunrise.  Since then when I think of Easter and it's true meaning, I always get a picture in my mind of a bright light shine out from a cave/tomb.  So using that for my inspiration, here's what I came up with:

Supplies:
Yellow Ruche (crepe) paper by The Paper Temptress
Kiwi/Watermelon paper from The Paper Temptress
(kiwi on one side and Watermelon on the other)
"My Girl" 6x6 paper pad by MME
black ink from Momento
Helmar Scrap Dots 3D adhesive

As I stated, this is my interpretation of what Easter (the resurrection of Jesus) means to ME.  The yellow behind the image is the tomb/cave shining bright and the dark pink is the stone rolled to one side . . . and, of course, the rays coming from behind that is representing the light shining out, all around. And the stamped image to me is representing new life . . . new life that is coming to life in the Spring and the new life that we are granted through Jesus. (DISCLAIMER: this is MY opinion . . . not that of BMCCS or the artist who created the stamp and has nothing to do with BMCCS or the artist.)

To make the rays, the first thing I did was sketch out how I thought I wanted things to be placed. Once I had a general idea, I sketched the rays on heavy cardstock to use as a template . . . though I have heard there is now a die cut that will do the same thing.  Here's how my "template/sketch" looked:

Next, I chose my papers (7 of them) and trimmed them to the same size of my pattern (3-3/4" x 5"). Then I placed my "template" on top of my papers and using my rotary cutter, cut along each line . . . being VERY careful not to cut myself. :)  After that, I took one ray from each pile (or number - I had numbered each ray) and glued them to a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of white cardstock to make sure they were even.  Added to borders . . . and VOILA! I was done! :)

Remember, you have till Wednesday, April 15th to get your projects entered.  I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with . . . you all truly inspire me each and every week, at each challenge. :)

Till the next time I'm up in the night.
