HIMCR #156 - Weddings

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

Here it is the last Saturday once again . . . and you know what that means?

That's right . . . it's time for a new challenge over at

This week's theme is "Weddings" and our sponsor is:

And the giveaway is $20 Gift Certificate to The Paper Shelter!!!

For this week's challenge, I chose "Crocodile Love" for my digi image from The Paper Shelter . . . what I really liked about this image (and all the images from The Paper Shelter) is you usually get both a colored image and an inked image (black and white for you to color yourself).  So this week, I decided to use the colored image because it matched perfectly with the paper I wanted to use - "For the Record 2" 6x6 paper pad by Echo Park.  Here's how it turned out:

In addition to "For the Record 2" 6x6 paper pad, I also used Cryogen White paper from Paper Temptress to print my image on . . . not only do I LOVE this paper when I am coloring an image with my Copics, but it also prints pre-colored images really good, too.  I also LOVE the Croygen White paper because it has a subtle shimmer to it . . . it is hard to get it to show up in a photo, but it is there and it is gorgeous. :) I also used "Honeydew" solid twine and "Peapod" stripe twine from The Twinery, red ribbon (cut crinkle ribbon in 1/4-1/2" and pulled apart to fray it) from 3 Girl Jam and red "skittles" from DoubleClick - AKA A Busy Bee.

For the sentiment, I used the "Stolen Moments" sticker from the "Paint It! with Luminarte" stickers by Creative Imaginations . . . they are specially coated (?) so you can use Luminarte (and other sprays) on them. I chose this sentiment for an anniversary card because I wanted to remind them to always take time and cherish those "stolen moments" . . . those of you with young children (or have had young children) understand what I am talking about.  Even if you have older children, it is still challenging for find those moments due to such busy schedules.

Remember, you have till Saturday, July 5th at 2:00am PST to get your projects in to be eligible for the gift certificate to The Paper Shelter.  Hope to see you all join us this week!!!

Till the next time I'm up in the night.

12/26/14 - updated where my red "skittles" came from. I couldn't remember at the time. But when I made my little ornament a couple weeks ago, I remembered . . . but have just now had time to go back and fix it. :)  Hope it helps those who have emailed me asking where I got them.  Have a Merry Christmas (or whatever holiday you may or may not celebrate at this time of year) and a Happy New Year!!!

Theme:  Color Challenge - Your Favorite Ice Cream
Stash:  Anything Goes

You have one week (till June 30th) to get your projects in.

This week's sponsor is:

For this week's challenge, I chose the cute digi image "Santa's Little Helper" from MelJen Designs . . . and used Bubble Gum Ice Cream as my favorite ice cream so I could use bright pink with other bright colors (the gumbulls in the ice cream).  Here's how it turned out:

For my stash item, I used miscellaneous paper from my stash because it was scraps that I have had FOREVER and a day . . . I think it was a Christmas line from Echo Park, but am unsure at this time because it's been so long ago.  Does anyone recognize it?  It is bright pink with turquoises and greens and yellows.  Added some miscellaneous buttons, some twine and faux stitching and . . . Voila!  I was done!

Remember, you have time June 30th to get your projects in . . .I can't wait to see what YOUR favorite ice cream is!!!

Till the next time I'm up in the night.

HIMCR #154 - Buttons 'n Bows

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

It's that time again . . . time for a new challenge over at Hiding In My Craft Room.  The challenge this week is to use a button and a bow somewhere on your project . . . and our sponsor this week is:

The giveaway is 3 digital stamps!!!

This week I chose the digi image called "Timid Timothy" (which also comes with 4 sentiments) from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps because he is so darn cute . . . and I was so excited to get started on this card even though I knew it was going to be a challenge for me to use both buttons and a bow on my project.  I mean, I like buttons and I like bows, but I don't use them much on cards . . . or at least I don't think I do. And though I do think that buttons and bows (ribbon/twine/etc.) do add that extra special touch to any project, but I just don't find myself using either very often. . . . so as I said, I knew it would be a challenge for me. :)  Here's how my project turned out:

Supplies:
"Timid Timiothy" digi image from Sweet 'n Sassy
White Cryogen paper from PaperTemptress
"PB&J" 6x6 paper pad by Basic Grey
Marchino Cherry twine from The Tiwnery
misc. navy buttons from stash
Copics

I made this card a 6x6 card for two (2) main reasons - (1) so help showcase my image which was I printed at 3" . . . when I had printed much it smaller at 2" (so I could do a 5x5 card), it was hard to see the details of Timothy's flowers (at least for me - lol); and (2) so my buttons didn't overpower the card since the only navy blue ones I could find were 5/8" ones. :) With this image, I tried a different coloring technique with Timothy's fur . . . once I had colored him, I put some Copic Blending Solution on a cotton ball and gently dabbed his fur with it to give it a look of texture.  This was the first time I tried it on anything other than a teddy bear and was pretty happy with the way it turned out.

Remember, you have one week to get your projects in over at Hiding In My Craft Room . . . Hope to see you all join us this week!!!

Till the next time I'm up in the night.

Clear It Out Challenge - Anything Goes

Does anyone know what time it is?

It's CHALLENGE time!!!

That's right . . . it's time to put the gardening tools and get out your scrappin' tools (paper, scissors, and glue) because it's time for a new challenge at Clear It Out Challenge. And once again, Laura, our fearless leader, has come up with another AMAZING challenge for us.  So easy, peasy . . .
Are you ready???

I didn't hear you . . .

Are you ready???

It's CHALLENGE time!!!

Theme:  Anything Goes
Stash:  Anything Goes

You have one week (June 13th) to get your projects posted.

Our sponsors this week are:

For this week's challenge, we were given a choice of from several "plates" from Whoopsie Daisy Digis. I chose #1 from plate #504 , , , a little girl sitting and looking into the distance.    Here's how my card turned out:

Supplies:
digi image (#504) from Whoopsie Daisy Digis
Summer Joy 04, 07 & 08)
flowers from Petaloo
misc. gems
Copics

When I first saw the digi paper "Summer Joy"  by Graciellie Designs, I fell in love with it and knew I wanted to use it with my dig image from Whoopsie Daisy Digis.  It is such a soft yellow and creamy color . . . and the style, to me at least, is shabby chic looking (it remnded me of one of the Lost 'n Found 3 paper collections).  One thing I LOVE about digi paper is being able to print it to the size I want it to be . . . and with Summer Joy, it was no different.  I used three (3) of the papers from this collection (Summer Joy 04, 07 & 08), printing each a different size.

First off, since I was making my card a 5"x7" card, I printed SummerJoy04 7"x7" so I could use it as my base (I ended up trimming it down and using the Green Crepe (Ruche) paper from PaperTemptress as the base and some matting to give the card more texture). I printed SummerJoy08 at 5.75"x5.75" and trimmed it down to 5.75"x3.75" keeping the flowers at the sides instead of top/bottom.  And I printed SummerJoy07 at 4.5"x4.5" and trimmed the middle of it to used as one of the mats behind my image, which I printed on the Iridescent Cryogen White paper from PaperTemptress.   after added more Green Crepe (Ruche) paper, some misc. gems, flowers and fibers . . . Voila! I was done!

Remember, you have one week to get your projects
in . . . I hope to see everyone join us this week. :)

On another note,  Clear It Out Challenge is looking for another Design Team member.  If you are interested or would like more information, please contact Laura . . .her contact info is on the  Clear It Out Challenge blog.  This is a really fun team to be on  . . . and everyone is so helpful.  Hope to see one or two (or more) of you tryout for this amazing team. :)

Till the next time I'm up in the night.

HIMCR #153 Super Scraps Saturday

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!

Here is is the 2nd Saturday of the month . . .
and you know what that means, right?

That's right . . . not only is it time for a new challenge over at Hiding In My Craft Room but it is time for Super Scraps Saturday!!!  This week our sponsor is Paper Temptress and the winner of this week's challenge will receive a gift certificate from Paper Temptress . . . how EXCITING is that?!?! I think the only problem would be trying to decide what paper to chose because Paper Temptress has the most AMAZING specialty papers!

I may have mentioned it before, but I am going to say it again . . . I LOVE Super Scraps Saturday!!!  And it is even better when I get to use some of my precious Paper Temptress scraps, combining them with other little precious scrappy "happiness" along with some of my all time favorite chippies, inks, etc. . . . and, thus, creating something like this:
Supplies:
corrugated kraft paper by Fancy Pants
green airmail washi tape
black and orange blossom ink
sentiment from Paper Smooches
misc. orange sequins
black archival pen (for draw faux stitching in upper & lower corners)

or like this:
Supplies:
paper from PaperTemptress - Navy Blue Leather,
White Leather, and Iridescent Cryogen White papers
Other paper - "Anchored" 6x6 paper pad by Authentique
Layered Star chippie from UmWowStudio
"Thank You" sentiment from the "Sew Sweet" stamp set by Get Inky! Stamps by Blue Moon Creations
red dew drops (or skittles) - Sorry, I've had these so long I don't remember :\
blue ink
What can I say? I couldn't decide which card to post today, so I decided to post both . . . I have two (2) cards for two (2) main reasons - (1) because I LOVE PaperTemptress papers; and (2)because I am working on 60+ "Thank You" cards for my daughter to use for her graduation presents.  I know, I spoil her . . . but she's my only child and she has never acted like she is entitled to anything. :)
Anyway, I fell in love with the paper from PaperTemptress when I first tried it months ago (back in February) when she was a sponsor for HIMCR . . . and I have been addicted to it since then. Plus as most of you already know, Patricia (PaperTemptress's owner) asked me to be on her AMAZING Design Team back in March.  I think I now use at least one of PT's specialty papers in each and every project I do now because I love it so much . . . from the mica/metallic to the Vintage Silver Lustre to the Leather to the Ruche papers, they all add such GREAT texture to any papercrafting project.  So if you haven't tried it out yet, you need to do so . . . in fact, there are some sales going on right now for the month of June. So head on over!!
Remember, you have one week to get your project(s) entered to be eligible for the gift certificate from PaperTemptress.  I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with this week because as I've said before - you NEVER cease to amaze me with all of your talent each and every week.
Till the next time I'm up in the night.

Clear It Out Challenge - Tag It!

Does anyone know what time it is?

That's right . . .

It's CHALLENGE time!!!

Once again, it's challenge time over at Clear It Out Challenge.  Time to clear off your scrappy space where ever that may be :), get out your paper, scissors and glue . . .   and get your crafty on. Because as usual, our amazingly fearless leader, Laura,  has come up with yet another INSPIRING challenge for us . . . and it's so easy, peasy!!! So again, get out your paper, scissors, glue  and . . .

 Are you ready???

I didn't hear you . . .

Are you ready???

Okay, it's challenge time!!!

Theme:  Tag It!
Stash: use a tag or make a tag

And you have 1 week to play (till June 16th)

This week our sponsor is:

For this week's challenge, I chose a digi image called "Pretty Wings" by StampArt by Kathryne. I chose this image because I love butterflies and the many meanings that can go with them.  After remembering some tags I had made and had leftover, I went to work and came up with this:

Supplies:
"Pretty Wings" by StampArt by Kathryne
cattail chippie from UmWowStudio
Silks Acrylic Glazes - Sunburst & Teal Zircon
Emerald paint/glaze from Creative Imaginations
black drawing ink (for "splashes")
"Nutmeg" flocking by Petalsoft
metal art by Studio K
Kraft corrugated paper by Fancy Pants
Super Stock by Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine
Paper from Paper Tempress -

I used the Creative Imaginations paint/glaze on my cattail chippie (from UmWowStudio) along with the "Nutmeg" flocking.  The background of the tag had been painted with Silks Acrylic Glazes in Sunburst & Teal Zircon . . . and I printed my butterfly in different sizes on another piece of paper I "created" using different glazes and glimmers mists (Sorry, but I didn't have those names written down anywhere, but it was yellows, orange and bright pink, if that helps.)  Added my "Imagine" metal art and a few splashes of black drawing ink . . . and VOILA! I was done.

I was so happy to get "inky" again while still using a digi image that I've decided that I'm not going to add a card base to this project.  Instead, I am going to make two (2) smaller pictures and attach all three (3) together for a wallhanging . . . it will be the PERFECT size for the column that divides my dining room, living room and hallway.

Now remember, you have one (1) week to get your projects in. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with this week!!!

Till the next time I'm up in the night.

HIMCR #152 - So Wild Rose

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

Here is it the 1st Saturday of June already . . . and
do you know what that means?

That's right!!!  It means that not only is is time for a new challenge over at Hiding In My Craft Room . . . but it is also a "Color" challenge!  This week the challenge is "So Wild Rose" -So Saffron, Wild Wasabe and Regal Rose.  (These are Stampin Up colors, but you can use any brand that matches.)

'This week our sponsor is Scrapper's Delights. . . and the winner will receive 3 digi mages!

For this week's challenge, I chose "Super Hero Boy" from Scrapper's Delights.  I decided to do something a little different for this challenge after a little birdie told me (while I was working on cards to donate to local children's hospital) that my image would be great for little kids to color. So here's what I came up with:

I used "girl" superhero paper I had leftover from some I got from Etsy and combined it with some paper from Paper Temptress (Yellow Ruche,  Green Pop Tunes and White Cryogen papers). As you can see I left my image "uncolored" and attached 3 crayons to the front of the card . . . I also printed bigger images for the inside making this like a coloring book.  This way the child can take out the bigger images to color (and maybe give to someone while in the hospital), but they also have a card they can color to give to someone, too, if they want or if it had not already been given to them . . . The cards donated to the local children's hospital are for the children to receive and to give.  So this makes it a 2-in-1 card.

Remember, you have one week till June 15th at 2am PST to get your projects in to be eligible for the weekly prize which is 3 digi images from Scrapper's Delights.  I can hardly wait to see what you come up with this week . . . all of you inspire me so much each and every week with your creations and I am sure this week will be no different.

Till the next time I'm up in the night.

Theme:  Father's Day
Stash:  Stars

You have one week (June 9th) to get your projects posted.

Our sponsor this week is:

This week I used a digi stamp called "AKV Superhero-shield" from Bugaboo Stamps.  I chose this one because my daughter is a big comcbook fan and I had bought some digi paper/digital scrapbook kit that would work PERFECT with it. Here's how it turned out:

The digi paper/digital scrapbook kit was created by Amanda Creations and is sold through Etsy . . . it is called "Superhero Series America" Digial Scrapbooking kit.  It comes with an alphabet, 16 papers and 29 elements.  I fussy cut the :"speech bubble" from the elements and used French Ultramarine Archival Ink for stamping the sentiment "Happy Father's Day" which is from Get Inky! Stamps.  Added a few miscellaneous gold gems and . . . Voila! I was done!

Remember, you have one week to get your Father's Day projects in to be eligible for the weekly prize . . . I can't wait to see what you come up with this time. :)
