Faith, Hope and Love - Eureka #124

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

Hope you all have been have had a GREAT week and been enjoying the warmer weather.  Around here, it's been in the low to mid 40s, which is almost 50 degrees warmer than the previous week. It's almost a heat wave.

But I'm not here to talk about the weather . . . Right now there's a new challenge at Eureka Stamps . . . the theme is "The Color - Red"!!!

For this week's challenge, I chose two digis - "French Love Letter" and digi 37303 1 Corinthians 13:13 by Eureka Stamps.  When I first saw the background stamp, I had thought to do a canvas, but ended up doing a simple card instead.  Here's what I came up with:

Remember, you have one week to get your "red" projects in over at  Eureka Stamps.  I can't wait to see what you come with this week.

Till the next time I'm up in the night.

Baby, It's cold outside - Eureka #123

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

Hope you all have been staying warm this past week.  I know, it's been a challenge here in central Iowa with the highs below zero with the windchill being negative 2-digits (-32 just a few days ago) and lows just as cold.  It truly has been cold outside!!!

Which makes the new challenge at Eureka Stamps just perfect . . . the theme is "Boy, it's cold outside"!!!

For this week's challenge, I chose digi17301 "Snow Scene Circle" by Eureka Stamps.  When I saw this stamp, I knew I would be changing the color of it, but was unsure as to what color . . . but after going thru my paper "collection", I chose blue.  Here's what I came up with:

Supplies:
"Tailgate Marked" paper collection by Riddersholm Design
"Scribe" paper from the Accomplished paper collection by Authentique (the gold script)
flowers from "Spring Darjeeling" collection by Petaloo Premier
pyramid studs (antique silver) by 7Gypsies
swirl from Kraft Wood Shapes by Bo Bunny (broke in 1/2)
Vintage Photo Distress Ink

I really like the feel of this card . . .not only does it give a feel of "being cold outside", but it has a vintage feel to it, too.  Oh, and for those who are wondering, I changed the color of my image in a MSWord document and used "blue - 1 light". Then I printed it on "Bygone Era" paper from the Tailgate Marked paper collection by Riddersholm Design (I cut paper down to 8-1/2"x11" before putting in the printer).  Hope that helps.  If any questions, please ask and I'll try to help.

Now let's get to craftin' so we can stay warm!!!

Till the next time I'm up in the night.
Challenges I would like to enter:
Alphabet Challenge - "X" for X-periment
(I experimented with making a "custom" color in my document rather than using the few given)
Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge - Anything Goes
Craftin Desert Divas - blue and white
D.L.Art - Anything Goes
Through the Craft Room Door - Anything Goes

Showers of Blessing - HIMCR #182

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

Here it is the 2nd Saturday of the month
and you know what that means, don't you?

That's right . . . not only is it time for a new challenge over at Hiding In My Craft Room, but it's time for "Super Scraps Saturday" challenge.

Our sponsor this week is Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.
The giveaway is 3 digitals images from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.

So let's get out our scraps and get to craftin'!!!

For this week's challenge, I used "Let It Rain" by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. But instead of using the main image at the focal point, I made it into a background pattern/paper and I used the verse "There shall be showers of blessing.Eekiel 34-26b as the focal point of my card. Here's how it turned out:

Supplies:
misc. orange scraps
misc. cream paper (to put behind the vellum)
Flowers from Prima

As you can see, the girl with umbrella is used multiple times and are different colors.  I did this by by inserting it into a MSWord document, then copying/pasting it multiple times and changing the color using five (5) different colors. I then printed it onto vellum, trimmed to size I wanted and put the card together.  I also changed the color of the verse to a green by inserting into a MSWord document and changing the "picture" color. Pretty simple, right?  I guess, if you are unfamiliar with MSWord and pictures, it may not be simple . . . so if you have questions, PLEASE ask because what may make sense to me, may not to others.

Remember, you have one week (till Jan. 17th 2am PST) to get your scrappy projects in so you can be eligible for the weekly prize. And what a GREAT way to use up some of your scraps supply. :)

Till the next time I'm up in the night.

Clear It Out - "Sweet Child of Mine"

Does anyone know what time it is?

Well, since it's the new year,
I think I need to come up with new introduction . . .
But until I think of something new . . .

It's CHALLENGE time!!!

Yes, it is time for a new challenge over at Clear It Out Challenge
It is time to put away the snowboots
(it's still snowing here, so why shovel twice??)
turn on the music (Don't get me wrong,
but it is nice to hear "regular" music now - lol)
and time to get your crafty on!!! And, as usual, our wonderful
leader, Laura, has come up with another AMAZING challenge
for us.   So easy, peasy, lemon squeesy . . .

 Are you ready???

I didn't hear you . . .

Are you ready???

Okay, it's challenge time!!!

Theme:  Anything Goes
Stash: Anything Goes

And you have one (1) week to play (till January 12th)

This week our sponsor is:

For this week's challenge, I chose another "Rory" digi image from Lacy Sunshine. I chose her . . . well, I needed something to remind me of the warm weather we will eventually be getting in a couple of months. It has been COLD around here . . . -2F (I think) last night alone and only a high of 5F today. So with that in mind, I came up with this card:

I used a sketch from Mojo Monday (again - I just love their sketches), but tried to keep the card clean and simple as not to take from the image.  Rory is my favorite digi character from Lacy Sunshine. :)

Now remember, you have one week (till January 12th) to get your projects in so you can be eligible for the prize at Clear It Out Challenge..  I can't wait to see what the new year has brought us.

Till the next time I'm up in the night.

If God takes the time . . . - Eureka #122

"Snowmen/Snowflakes"

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

My, is it cold outside this morning . . . it's around -2 Fahrenheit right about now. Brrrr!!!

And though it's cold out right now, it's a perfect time for a new challenge over at Eureka Stamps . . . that's right, a new challenge!!! And if you haven't guessed yet, I am now on their wonderful DT as of today (the surprise I told you about for today).

The theme for this week's challenge is "Snowmen/Snowflakes".
Here's the card I did for this week's challenge:

I used two digi images called "Snow Background" (digi27301) and "If God takes time . . ." (digi27302) from Eureka Stamps. I chose them because I wanted to try digital embossing with the background digi image . . . if some of you remember, I did this with an outline image a month or so and it turned out beautiful. So I wanted to see how it worked with something more intricate, plus I just LOVE the sentiment "If God takes time to make each snowflake one-of-a-kind and unique . . . Just think how much more care He took to make YOU!"

In case some of you are new or missed the other post of how to do digital embossing, the first thing to remember is you can only do this with slick paper or a a paper that the ink doesn't dry instantly, like vellum or mica/metallic paper from PaperTemptress, because you put the embossing powder on the image immediately after coming out of the printer.  And it also works best using fine embossing powder, especially with the more detailed images.

So the first thing I did was print my image on vellum
and put "Vintage Champagne" embossing power on it:
HINT: (I changed the color of my image to 50% gray in MSWord2013
so the black ink didn't show thru mylighter embossing power,
but it isn't necessary if you don't want or can't change the color.
Just play around with the colors and see what works best for YOU.)

Then I gently poured the excess embossing powder on a
different sheet of paper before putting excess back into
container.  I did it this way so I didn't bend or mess up
my paper or image.

Since I was using vellum and I always have a hard time with my vellum curling as I use my heat gun, I attached my image using a temporary adhesive to my Heavenly White 120# paper (to stabilize the vellum) from PaperTemptress before heat embossing.

See NO curls! YAY!!

And the rest is history, as they say . . .

Now make sure to check out the rest of Eureka Stamps' Design Teams' projects . . . they are just AMAZING!!!  Then get to work on your own "Snowmen/Snowflakes" projects . . . we can hardly wait to see what everyone comes up with.

Till the next time I'm up in the night.

You are my HAPPY - HIMCR #181

Happy New Year to all my crafty friends and family!!!

Has everyone recovered from the holiday season yet???

I think I have even though we didn't go out New Year's Eve this year.  We chose to stay in where it was warm (and safe. . . just never know what or who will be out on the streets on New Year's Eve) and watch movies. Plus, I wanted to be close by in case our daughter needed us for anything. But it is okay we didn't go out to celebrate the new year this year since we were both still a bit tired from a busy week (or weeks). In fact, I think my hubby was in bed by 11pm. Maybe he is right and we are getting old??? LOL  Naw . . . we are only as old as we think we are . . . and I think I'm still pretty young. :)

Anyway, here it is the first Saturday of the month,
and you know what that means, right???

That's right!  Not only is it time for a new challenge over at Hiding In My Craft Room, but it's time for a "Color" challenge . . . and this week the color is PINK!!!

The sponsor is Hiding In My Craft Room!
hidinginmycraftroom.com
The giveaway is TBA!!!

For this week's challenge, I wanted to do a CAS card . . . so I went to Mojo Monday to see what sketches they had and I found one that would work perfectly with this challenge.  So after getting out my "You Are My Happy" 6x6 paper pad by Teresa Collins, I came up with the following:

As I said, "Clean and Simple".  I just love the extra little touch of color the black adds to all the pinks . . . not too much and not too little.  Just the right amount (in my opinion). :) Note: this card measures 3.5"x5.5" so it will still fit in an A2 size envelope with a little extra room if I had decided to add flowers or some other embellie . . . but I like it as it is.  Now to decide who gets it - my hubby or my daughter???

Remember, you have one week (till Jan. 10th at 2am PST) to get your "PINK" projects in over at Hiding In My Craft Room in order to be eligible for the weekly prize.  I can't wait to see all the pinkness that will be created this week!!!

Till the next time I'm up in the night.
