HIMCR #171 - Any Holiday

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

Can you believe it is almost the end of October already?
And that Thanksgiving is just right around the corner,
let alone Christmas?

I know I can't . . . where did the time go???

Well, speaking of holidays . . .

Since it is Saturday once again, it means it's time for a new challenge over at Hiding In My Craft Room and this week's theme is "Any Holiday"!!!

Our sponsor is A Day for Daisies.

The giveaway is a $12 gift certificate to A Day for Daisies!!!

So since it is getting close to Thanksgiving here in the U.S., I decided to use a digi image called "A Butterfly Harvest" from A Day for Daisies. And since I didn't want to take away from the image by using patterned paper but didn't want the "plainness" of regular solid colored cardstock, I decided to use my papers from PaperTemptress.  PaperTemptress has the best selection of specialty and textured papers.  Here's how it turned out:

Supplies:
Gold & Dark Chocolate Mica/Metallic papers from PaperTemptress
misc. gems

For the sentiment on this card, I used MSWord and typed "GIVE" in "Impact" font and printed ont my Iridescent Cryogen paper. And then stamped "thanks" which was part of a clear stamp I had cut apart that originally said "thanks for everything". Put all the layers together . . . and VOILA! I was done.

Remember, you have one week (till 2am PST Nov. 1st) to get your projects in.  I can't wait to see what type of  "holiday" projects everyone is inspired to make this week.

Till the next time I'm up in the night.
Challenge(s) I would like to enter:
Addicted to Stamps - Holiday
AUD Sentiments - 2 or 3 word sentiment
Crafting Muskateers - Autumn colors
D.L.Art - Anything Goes
Dragon's Lair - Anything Goes

Clear It Out Challenge - Halloween

Do anyone know what time it is?

It's CHALLENGE time!!!

Once again, time for a new challenge over at Clear It Out Challenge
It is time to put away the broom (who cares about a little dirt?),
put away the dust rags (the dust bunnies can wait till tomorrow - lol),
and time to get your crafty on.  And, as usual, our fearless
leader, Laura, has come up with another AMAZING challenge
for us.   So easy, peasy, lemon squeesy . . .

 Are you ready???

I didn't hear you . . .

Are you ready???

Okay, it's challenge time!!!

Theme:  Halloween
Stash: black and orange

And you have one (1) week to play (till October 27th)

This week our sponsors this week are:

and

For this week's challenge, I choose a cute vampire bat image called "Vlady Bat" from ZapPow . . . along with some sentiments that were provided.  Here's how it turned out:

Supplies:
"Vlady Bat" digi image from ZapPow
Copics
"Haunted Hallow" 6x6 paper pad by American Crafts
"Fluer de Lis Rectangles" dies by Spellbinders (#S4-317)
mini buttons from "Frightful" collection by MME

One thing I just LOVED about this image (and other images) from ZapPow is how easy they are to fussy-cut.  The lines are "thick" enough that I am able to cut right on the lines and still have some left.  :)

Remember, you have one (1) week (till October 27th) to get your Halloween project in in order to be eligible for the weekly prize.  We can't wait to see what you do this week to inspire US.

Till the next time I'm up in the night.

HIMCR #170 - Embossing

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

Here it is Saturday once again . . .
and you know what that means, right?

That's right . . . not only is it time for a new challenge over at Hiding In My Craft Room, but it time for a technique challenge.  So this week's challenge is "embossing".  It can be any type of embossing . . . dry or wet, folder or stylus. The choice is up to you!

Our sponsor this week is:

And the prize this week is a $20 gift certificate to PaperTemptress.

For my project this week, I did a card using some new dies I bought while out on "errands" with my daughter.  I am loving her being in college because with the schedule she has set for herself for classes, work, study, friends, etc. has allowed us to have two (2) days each week where we can run "errands" and just "hang" with each other.  It has been so much fun especially this past Thursday . . . we went to The Theatrical Shop in Valley Junction to look for parts for her Halloween costume she is making and, afterwards, we just walked around, going to different shops.  (For those who aren't from around my area, Valley Junction is a historical business neighborhood in West Des Moines that has a lot of specialty shops.)  Like I said . . . FUN!!!

Anyway, I used my new dies with some of my favorite papers from PaperTemptress to make this week's project . . . I used one of the dies for embossing on my background.  It is called "Scary Background" and it is Halloweeny/Scary words in a subway art style.  Here's how it turned out:

Papers from PaperTemptress:
Onyx Mica/Metallic paper  (bats & backing)

Other Supplies:
"Eerie Bats" dies for La-La Land Crafts
"Grand Willow Tree" die (#98695) from Memory Box
"Haunted Webs" die (#99007) from Memory Box
"Scary Background" die (#1078) by Poppy Stamps
Batty paper from American Crafts
paper ribbon from Reminisce (for sentiment)
enamel dots from "Frightful" collection by MME
"Farmer Jeans" chalk fluid edger by Inglvild Bolme for Prima
"Knotted Wood" chalk fluid edger by Inglvild Bolme for Prima

Here's some closeups:

As you can see in some of the closeups, I didn't adhere the branches of my tree . . . the reason I did do this is because I wanted more definition for my tree.  I did the same thing with the webs.  Originally, I planned this to be a card . . . but after posting it to HIMCR, I have decided to add two (2) more layers (kraft corrugated paper/torn box panel with ink & gesso on it & another layer of Onyx Mica/Metallic paper) to make it into a wallhanging.  The gesso is drying right now and then I need to adhere the last layers to my "card", so I can't take a picture of how it looks as a wallhanging . . . but will try to do so in the next few days unless I change my mind again. ;)

Till the next time I'm up in the night.
Challenge(s) I would like to enter:
3 Girl Jam - Spooky or Creepy (sentiment is paper ribbon)

An Oldie, but a GOODIE . . .

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

How is everyone doing this fine Fall day?   Pretty good here.  The weather has actually been nice the past two days . . . low to mid 60s during the day and 40s at night.  Not too bad . . . plus, it's been the weather to get a Salted Caramel Latte from Starbucks.  I have been "patiently" waiting for it to get cool enough for me to have the warm drinks from there . . . okay, not so "patiently". lol

Anyway, today I want to share a project I did for PaperTemptress .last week  . . for some reason it didn't post here on my blog like it should have, so I'm adding a comment or two to update it and will get it posted here shortly.

The project I did is an "oldie but a goodie" project . . . candy bar covers.  It's one I've done many times over the past couple years and give to friends and their children.  I especially LOVE to make them during the Halloween season . . . plus, with this one, it helps me use up some of my smaller PaperTemptress scraps.

This is such an "easy, peasy" project as one of my on-line friends would say. Just take a 6x6in piece of patterned or solid-colored paper and wrap around a regular size candy bar (I used Hershey's Milk Chocolate) and then decorate it.

For this project I used my bat punch from EKsuccess and punched four (4) bats (two for each candy bar since I layer them for more definition) from my scraps of Onyx Mica/Metallic paper from PaperTemptress.  Then layered them and added googly eye. The sentiments are some a friend from my LSS had leftover . . . and VOILA! I was done.

I've also used orange paper to make it look like a pumpkin or strips of torn white paper inked to look like a mummy . . . and I just did another using Green Ruche paper from PaperTemptress to make Frankenstein.  The possibilities are endless. I've even done this on mini-candy bars.  So cute in a little candy dish. :)

Hope you have been inspired to do your own fun candy bar covers
. . . have a GREAT day!!!

Till the next time I'm up in the night.

Clear It Out Challenge - Thanksgiving

Does anyone know what time it it?

That's right . . .

It's CHALLENGE time!!!

Time to put away the umbrella (it's too rainy now to go run any more errands), put away the vacuum (dust bunnies won't go anywhere - lol) and get comfy with a hot drink (nothing like craftin' with a hot drink on a cold, rainy day - I'm having a Salted Caramel Latte from Starbucks) because it's time for a new challenge over at Clear It Out Challenge,  And once again, our fearless leader, Laura, has come up with another GREAT challenge for us this week.  So let's get out our paper, scissors, and glue . . .

Are you ready?

I didn't hear  you . . .

Are  you ready?

Okay, IT'S CHALLENGE TIME!!!

Theme: Thanksgiving
Stash: Twine

And you have 1 week to play (till Oct. 20th)

This week our sponsor is:

For this week's challenge, I chose an adorable digi image called "Autumn Smile" by StampArt by Kathryne.  This digi image also comes with some bonus images - two (2) sentiments "Autumn Daze" and "Happy Autumn" along with a sunflower.  I only used one (1) of the sentiments on my project this time.  I just LOVE this digi because it is so versatile. I originally made a corner bookmark for this week's project . . . but after reading my email Sunday, I saw a friend of mine (Julie from MuddyPaws&InkyFingers - I follow her via email) had done a similar project with the EXACT same image.  (I guess great minds think alike. lol)  Anyway, after seeing that, I decided to do another project. using the following sketch from Mojo Monday.

Here's how my card turned out:

Supplies:
"Autumn Smile" by StampArt by Kathryne
"Mischievous" 6x6 paper pad by MME
charcoal twine from The Twinery
misc. gems
copics

Remember, you have one (1) week (till October 20th) to get your "Thanksgiving" projects posted in order to be eligible for the weekly prize.  Can't wait to see what everyone does this week.

Till the next time I'm up in the night.

HIMCR #169 - Halloween Colors

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

Here it is the 1st Saturday of the month
and you know what that means, don't you?

That's right . . . not only is it time for a new challenge over at Hiding In My Craft Room, but it's time for a color challenge. This week it's think "Happy Halloween".  That's right!  Use Halloween colors on any project this week . . .and it doesn't have to be a Halloween project either, as long as you use Halloween colors.

The sponsor is Stamp & Create

The giveaway is a $20 gift certificate to Stamp & Create

When I think of "Halloween", I think of black and orange.  So for my card this week, those were my main two (2) colors.  Here's how it turned out:

For the stamping, I first put orange ink on the stamp and then took my black ink and tapped it here and there . . . then I stamped my image on the paper.  Pretty cool, don't you think?  I really love how it has a "marble" look to it. :)

Till the next time I'm up in the night.
Challenges I want to enter:
Craft Hazelnut's Patterned Paper - ATG /paper for any occation
