Believe - PaperTemptress

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

As many of you know, when I was on the Design Team with CropChocolate, one of the requirements of our projects was to teach a "new" technique of sorts . . . so I was learning some new every few days.  Something I have missed a lot!!!  But a few weeks ago, I ran across a blog that has what is called "Make It On Monday" and it teaches a new technique every Monday.

So today I am here to share with you a card I made using a "new" technique that I have been practicing with the past few weeks that I learned from "Make it on Monday" and now feel ready to share the final product . . . and some of my favorite papers from PaperTemptress.  The technique was using an embossing folder, chalks, and stamping. Here's how my card turned out:

Papers from PaperTemptress:
Iridescent Cryogen paper (sentiment, embossing and card base)

Other supplies:
chalks
inks (Raspberry Fizz, Limeaide Ice, and Hawaiin Shores)
misc. flowers and gems
digi image from StampArt by Kathryne

The first thing I did was emboss a 5.7 piece of Iridescent Cryogen paper and then colored it with chalks . . . using many different colors.  Then taking a solid stamp (this technique looks better with solid stamp instead of a lined stamp, but you can do it either way) and stamped in various places with Raspberry Fizz, Limeaide Ice and Hawaiin Shores.  I then trimmed it down to 3.25"x7.75" . . . printed a digi sentiment "Believe" on Iridescent Cryogen paper and added both to a larger base.  Then matted it with Azalea Mica/Metallic paper and Iridescent Cryogen paper   For the final touches, I added a piece of White Vellum, misc. flowers, a small strip of the Rose Quartz mica/metallic paper and some misc. gems. Voila! I was done.

Here's a few close up shots:

Thanks so much for stopping by today . . . hope I inspired you to try a new technique.  If I did, let me know where I can see what you created. :)

Till the next time I'm up in the night.

This week our sponsor is:

For this week's challenge, I chose a cute little image called "Rori Catching Butterflies" from Lacy Sunshine.  I picked Rori because . . . well, I just thought she was so cute and I could picture her image in jean overalls with yellow accents and with yellow papers/embellishments. :) Here's how my card turned out:

Supplies:
"Rori Catching Butterflies" digi image from Lacy Sunshine
White and Yellow Ruche paper from PaperTemptress
Iridescent Cryogen White paper from PaperTemptress
"On the Sunny Side" 6x6 paper pad by MME
Daffodil liquid pearls

yellow flower from UmWowStudio (one of the older embellishment kits)
misc. blue flowers from Petaloo

HIMCR #159 - Christmas in July

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

Here it is Saturday once again and you know what that mean . . .

That's right.  It's time for a new challenge over at Hiding In My Craft Room.  and the theme this week is Christmas (or whateer holiday you celebrate in December).

The sponsor is Digi Digi Doodle

For this week's challenge, I chose a cute digi image called "Cuppo Holliday" by Digi Digi Doodle. Here's how it turned out:

I used scraps from my "12 Days of Christmas" 6x6 paper pad by MME along with my copics and some Stickles that I used on the "steam" from the cup . . . and I "doodled" the sentiment by hand (for the first time, I may add . . . not bad for 1st try) ;).  All-in-all, I think it turned out pretty cute. In fact, I plan on making a few more to send to "Send a Kid a Smile" or I may just take to my local children's hospital since it makes more sense to do that than send across the state only to have them sent back here to this hospital. :)

Remember, you have one week to get your projects in to be eligible for this week's prize . . . and make sure to check back Monday to see who won my blog candy.

Till the next time I'm up in the night.

Clear It Out Challenge - Christmas in July

Does anyone know what time it is?

That's right!

It's CHALLENGE Time!

And over at Clear It Out Challenge, it's time for a new challenge.  And, as usual, our fearless leader, Laura, has come up with another GREAT challenge for us.  So get out your paper, scissors, and glue . . .

Are ;you ready?

I didn't hear you . . .

Are you ready?

IT'S CHALLENGE TIME!!!

Theme:  Christmas in July
Stash:  Glitter/Stickles

You have one week (till July 28th) to get your projects in.

This week's sponsor is:

For this week;s challenge, I picked a digi image called "Christmas Trees and Parcels" by Hope Jacare Doodles for Stitchy Bear.  I also decided to try a new technique I came across online - Watercoloring with Distress Markers. Basically, what you do is take your distress marker and color a small spot on a teflon sheet or a splat mat; then using a waterbrush, pickup a little bit of the color from the splat mat and start "painting" your image by starting on one side and pulling the color to the other side . . . continue to do this till you have the depth of color you want.  Here's how my card turned out:

In addition to my Distress Markers, I used papers from PaperTemptress - Green Ruche, Iredescent Cryogen, Rose Quartz mica/metallic and Pearl mica/metallics.  After adding some clear Wink of Stella and Frosty Stickles, I was done. :)

I do have closeup sots, but as of right now I don't have access to my internet via my computer so I can upload them.  I will try to get them uploaded before this goes "LIVE" . . . but if not, I will do so later in the day.

Remember, you have one (1) week to get your projects in at Clear It Out Challenge.  Can't wait to see what you come up with for Christmas in July!!!

Till the next time I'm up in the night.

For some inspiration, here's a Christmas CAS (clean and simple) card I put together using some of my all-time favorite papers from PaperTemptress:

The papers I used from PaperTemptress are Jupiter Red mica/metallic paper, White Crepe (Ruche) paper, and White Leather paper.  And I used Iridescent Cryogen White paper for my card base.
Here's a close-up showing the wonderful textures of the papers:

Here's a better one showing the GREAT texture of the
White Leather paper (and it really does have the "feel" of leather:

Other items I used for this card was a snowflake die from Taylor Expression, "Holly Jolly" pearlized brads by TPC Studios and a stamp from "A Wee Christmas" by Fresh Squeezed Stamps.

Now let's get to the really important items . . . PRIZES from Up in the Night with Kat. Clear It Out Challenge - K.I.S.S.

Does anyone know what time it it?

That's right . . .

It's CHALLENGE time!!!

Time to put away the lawn mower (if your hubby lets you near it - lol), put away the gardening tools and get a glass of water because it's time for a new challenge over at Clear It Out Challenge,  And once again, our fearless leader, Laura, has come up with a new and exciting challenge for use this week.  So get out your paper, scissors, and glue . . .

Are you ready?

I didn't hear  you . . .

Are  you ready?

Okay, IT'S CHALLENGE TIME!!!

Theme:  K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Silly) - NO more than 2 layers
Stash:  Anything Goes

Our sponsor(s) this week are:

For this week's challenge, I chose a digi image called "Stitched Stars" by DeeDee Digi's (https://shop.deedeesdigis.com/store/c1/Featured_Products.html) (Sorry, again for some reason, Blogger isn't letting me highlight more than one word at a time or basically, anything, to give out links (except for the badges above . . . so I put the typed addy behind the name). Here's how my card turned out:

supplies:
Iridescent Cryrogen White paper from PaperTemptress
Navy mica/metallic paper from PaperTemptress
Jupiter Red mica/metallica paper from PaperTemptress
"Anchored" 6x6 paper pad by Authentique
Texture Fades embossing folder by Tim Holtz
misc. clear gems

This was a challenging challenge for me (once again-but loved it!) because originally we were to use NO layers and it was hard not to do a card without at least one layer.  My final project has one layer and it was my 4th try!

So let's see what  you can do!!! I can't wait to see everyone's attempt at such a CAS card . . . but remember, you can have up to 2 layers!

Till the next time I'm up in the night.

HIMCR #157 - Super Scraps Saturday

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

Here it is the 2nd Saturday of July (yes, already!) . . .

and do you know what that means?

That's right! Not only is it time for a new challenge over at  Hiding In My Craft Room . . . but it is time for Super Scraps Saturday!!!  Time to get out those scraps and get crafty!!!

This week our sponsor is A Day for Daisies
(www.adayfordaisies.com or click on badge for link)
And the giveaway is a $12 Gift Certificate to A Day for Dasies!

For this week's challenge, I chose a digi image called "Sunday's Laundry" by A Day for Daisies and grabbed my scraps from my "The Sweetest Thing" 6x6 paper pad by MME and some papers from PaperTemptress to work with.  Here's what I came up with:

Since several of my "long" pieces were only 2-3" long instead of 4", I cut them in 1/2 and placed them behind the image so I couldn't see where I had cut them . . . thus, making them look longer than they actually were. One thing I did to help me make sure my pieces lined up top to bottom was make little lines on the back on the matting to the digi image . . . make it so much easier. :)

Remember, you have one week to get your projects entered in order to be eligible for the weekly prize.  I can't wait to see what scraps you use this month.

Till the next time I'm up in the night.
PS  For some reason, my laptop or Blogger is acting "funny" . . .not sure why, but it won'e let me highlight anything so I can put links on names or images.  I did copy and paste for HIMCR, but the font is smaller and I did get a link onto the badge for A Day for Daisies, but not the image I used or the typed name.  I will try again later to see if it is just a fluke.  Thanks!

Clear It Out Challenge - Sketch

Does anyone know what time it it?

That's right . . .

It's CHALLENGE time!!!

Time to put away the lawn mower (if your hubby lets you near it - lol), put away the gardening tools and get a glass of water because it's time for a new challenge over at Clear It Out Challenge,  And once again, our fearless leader, Laura, has come up with a new and exciting challenge for use this week.  So get out your paper, scissors, and glue . . .

Are you ready?

I didn't hear  you . . .

Are  you ready?

Okay, IT'S CHALLENGE TIME!!!

Theme:  Sketch (provided)
Stash:  Anything goes

And you have 1 week to play (till July 14th)

This week our sponsor is:

For this week's challenge, I decided to go a different route with my digi image and chose "Bible Verse - Believe" by StampArt by Kathryne.  Since I was using a sentiment digi image and did't want to distract from it with a bunch of patterns, I decided to use some of my specialty paper from PaperTemptess along with it because the textures of the papers would help give my card detail without distractions.  Here's how my card turned out:

Supplies:
"Bible Verse - Believe" by StampArt by Kathryne
misc. gems and flower
twine from The Twinery

As you can see, I turned the sketch on it's side to make it fit my image better . . . and used three (3) gems for the three (3) flowers.  I really do LOVE how the textures from the paper from PaperTemptress really gives the card more detail without distractions. If you have an image you want to use, but don't want to distract from it or just want to add an extra element to your project, please check out PaperTemptress.com . . . she has the most AMAZING specialty papers.

Here's a few close-up shots of my card:

(Sorry, you have to turn your heads to see this photo the correct way . . .
but no matter what I tried, I couldn't get this picture to upload to my blog right side up.
But it still shows the wonderful texture and shimmer of the mica/metallic paper.)

Remember, you have one week (till July 14th) to get your projects entered over at Clear It Out Challenge in order to be eligible for the weekly prize.  I can't wait to see everyone's interpretation of the sketch Laura provided.

Till the next time I'm up in the night.

ETA - 7/9/14 12:26am I edited/corrected the title to this post back to "Clear It Out Challenge - Sketch". Thanks!!!

HIMCR #!56 - Think Summer!

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

Here is it the first Saturday of the month . . . and do you know what that means?

That's right . . . not only is it time for another amazing challenge over at Hiding In My Craft Room, but it is a "Color" challenge.

So this week use what color you think of when you "Think Summer"!

The sponsor is this week is Sami Stamps!

And the giveaway is a $12 Gift Certificate to Sami Stamps!!!

For this week's challenge, I chose a beautiful digi image called "Sunshine Love" from Sami Stamps.  I chose it because it reminded me of the days when me and my daughter would sit outside watching the clouds float by on a warm summer day or the quiet times we watched the sunrises and sunsets . . . those are precious memories.  They are even more so because during part of my daughter's younger years this was most physically active I could get due to being so sick from chemotherapy and, subsequently, a bone marrow transplant  But whether I was healthy or not, we enjoyed these quiet moments together. . . . and I still do when I can get her to slow down to spend a few moments with her dear ole mom (she prefers watching sunsets with a certain boy now) :)

Also, when I see the colors of peach/orange and turquoise, they remind of of the summer sky and the melons from the garden . . . sure sign that summer is here.  Here's how my card turned out:

Supplies:
"Sunshine Love" by Sami Stamps
"Tell Me Your Story" by Teresa Collins
Iridescent Cryrogen White paper from PaperTemptress
"Flame" mica/metallic paper  (a dark peachy orange) from PaperTemptress
flowers from Petaloo
"Memories" sticker from Creative Imaginations
misc. fibers and buttons

For this image, I did my coloring/blending of my Copics a little different for the grass and sky . . . I did small dots in three or four shades for each.  I am pretty happy with the way ti turned out . . . reminds me of a "watercolor" look?  I'm going to practice more with this because I seen pictures of others doing something similar that are just AMAZING . . . and so INSPIRING!!!

Remember, you have one week (till July 12th at 2am PST) to get your projects entered in order to be eligible for the weekly prize which is a $12 Gift Certificate to Sami Stamps.  I can't what to see what colors make you"Think Summer" and why.

Till the next time I'm up in the night.

Clear It Out Challenge - In the Garden

Does anyone know what time it is?

That's right . . .
It's CHALLENGE time!!!

Time to turn down the TV (not off right now since we are having severe weather), crank up the CD player (need some jammin' music) and get out your paper, scissors, and glue because it's time for a new challenge at Clear It Out Challenge. And Laura, our fearless leader, has come up with another fabulously FUN challenge for us this week.  So easy, peasy . . .

Are you ready???

I didn't hear you . . .

Are you ready???

It's CHALLENGE time!!!

Theme: In the Garden
(anything you may find there - flowers, bugs, veggies, etc.)
Stash:  Ribbon

You have one week (July 7th) to get your projects posted.

Our sponsor this week is:

This week I used a digi stamp called "Flower Bird" from Bugaboo Stamps.  I chose this image because it looked like the little birdie had invaded the flower bed . . . reminded me of the little bunnies who have been helping themselves to my green beans, strawberries, etc. (but they have left the tomato transplants alone - go figure!).  I also used paper from PaperTemptress along with one (1) small strip of paper from "For the Record 2" 6x6 paper pad by Echo Park.  Here's how it turned out:

Supplies:
"Flower Bird" digi image from Bugaboo Stamps
"For the Record 2" 6x6 paper pad by Echo Park
"Marigold" and "Seaweed" striped twine from The Twinery
misc. clear gems
button from stash
Copics
Paper from PaperTemptress:

One thing I LOVE about the paper from PaperTemptress is the amazing colors and textures . . . but I usually have a hard time getting the shimmer of the Cryogen White Iridescent paper to show up in a pictures.  BUT I was able to get a few decent closeup pictures of all 4 papers to show you their texture and shimmer.

Here's close-up of the Cryogen White Iridescent paper . . . can you see the
shimmer on the bird?  It looks like maybe a glitter pens or a shimmery
spray was used, but it was colored with regular Copics.  The shimmer is the
PAPER . . . and it does NOT rub off!!

Here's an even closer close-up of the Cryogen White Iridescent paper . . . this
shows the shimmer on the background a bit better than the first close-up.

Here's close-up of both the Cryogen White Iridescent paper and the Gold (text
weight) and Lagoon Mica/Metallic papers.  Don't you just LOVE the glittery/
shimmery look of the paper?  I know I do . . . and the BEST this is you
get the glittery/shimmer look with the mess!!

And here is a close-up of the White Leather paper.  I just LOVE the feel
of this paper . . . it really does have the feal of leather. .

For this next week, ALL paper at PaperTemptress is 30% off . . . YES, 30% off!!!

Thus, making it an even better deal and a GREAT time to try out this AMAZING specialty cardstock and paper she has.  So head on over and check it out.

Remember, you have one week to get your projects entered into the "In the Garden" challenge over at Clear It Out Challenge.  I hope to see all of you join us this week!!!

Till the next time I'm up in the night.
