Isn't She Lovely? - HIMCR #180

Merry Christmas to all my crafty friends and family!!!

Did everyone survived???

I know I did.  We had my hubby's side of the family here Christmas Day (it was our turn to host) and we had such a fun and relaxing with each other . . . and sooooo much food!!!  We have one more family gathering for my side of the family (we are hosts for them this year, too) which is a bit later this afternoon.  Can't wait to sit back and enjoy some more family time and celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus, with I love. I pray everyone has had a good holiday season no matter no matter what holiday you celebrate or don't celebrate.  It's the season to be thankful for all we have.

And it's also the last Saturday of the month . . .
and you know what that means, right???

That's right!  Not only is it time for a new challenge over at Hiding In My Craft Room, but it's a "Freestyle" challenge.  Basically, anything you want!!!

The sponsor is Hiding in My Craft Room!
hidinginmycraftroom.com
The giveaway is TBA . . . but there will be multiple winners!!!

This week I am sharing a layout I did of my daughter from back when we went to Disney. Yes, I am waaaay behind on pictures...I used to do them chronologically, but now it depends on what I want to work with or if a picture really captivates me, which was what happened with these photos.  In the photo, my daughter had just had her face painted in as a butterfly princess. I had been wanting to scrap them for quite awhile and finally decided to do so when I stumbled upon some old paper I had from my CropChocolate days. :) So I got out my Kiwi Lane templates and went to work.  Here's how it turned out:

I just love the closeup of her eyes!!! I love her eyes period because of their shape and because they change colors-from gray to green to blue to hazel-depending on her mood or how she's feeling. I always knew when she was sick, mad, happy or just plain mischievous. lol I do love my Kiwi Lane templates . . . they make it so much easier to picture in my head how a layout will look before I cut my paper.  And I know we all have that paper that we just don't want to cut until we are absolutely sure.

Remember, you have one week to get your projects in at Hiding in My Craft Room in order to be eligible for our weekly prize, which there will be multiple winners this time!!!

Till the next time I'm up in the night.
PS  Stop back on January 5th for a special announcement. :)

A Year of Reflection - CIO Challenge

Does anyone know what time it it?

That's right . . .

It's CHALLENGE time!!!

Time to put away the list of "Christmas Presents To Make" (because if they're not done yet, they aren't going to get done with only 2 days to go), put away the "To Do" lists (there's still tomorrow to finish up any last minute "errands") and crank up the Christmas tunes (there's nothing better to get me in the Christmas spirit than listening to Christmas songs and nothing better to get me in the crafting spirit than some jammin' music - lol) because it's time for a new challenge over at Clear It Out Challenge. And once again out fearless leader, Laura, has come up with another GREAT challenge for us this week.  So let's get out our paper, scissors, and glue . . .

Are you ready?

I didn't hear  you . . .

Are  you ready?

Okay, IT'S CHALLENGE TIME!!!

Theme: A Year of Reflection
Stash: Anything Goes

You have 2 weeks to play this time (till Jan. 5th)

This week our sponsors are:

For this week's challenge, we were to pick our favorite card of the year.  Well, as many of you know, I kept saying "This is now my favorite card." and with making so many cards this past year, I truly had a hard time deciding.  Due to that, I decided to narrow it down by picking my favorite card(s) from one this week's sponspors - Zap Pow Designs.  Here's what I decided on:

The images and sentiments are from "BFF Digi Pak" by Zap Pow Designs. One thing I loved about these digi images was that they were so easy to fussy-cut due to their outlines being a bit thicker than the usual digi.

Remember, you have 2 weeks to get your "A Year of Reflection" in to be eligible for the weekly prize(s).  Hope to see you all join us for the last challenge of the year!!!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

HIMCR #179 - Freestyle

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

Here it is the 3rd Saturday of the month
and you know what that means, don't you?

That's right . . . not only is it time for a new challenge over at Hiding In My Craft Room, but it's time for a "Freestyle" or "Anything Goes" challenge.  So easy and FUN which is exactly what we need with so much going on this time of year!!!

The sponsor is A Day for Daisies!

The giveaway is a $12 Gift Certificate to A Day for Daisies!

For this week's challenge, I chose a cute little digi called "Christmas Lights Fairy" by A Day for Daisies.  So using some scraps from "Saint Nick" 6x6 paper pad by Fancy Pants along with my Inktense pencils (like watercolor pencils but more vibrant like ink when dampened) and a clear Wink of Stella brush pen, I went to work and came up with the following:

Pretty simple, but really cute!!!

Remember, you have one week (till Saturday Dec. 27th at 2am PST) to get your projects in so you can be eligible for the weekly prize which is from A Day for Daisies this week.

Till the next time I'm up in the night.

Does anyone know what time it it?

That's right . . .

It's CHALLENGE time!!!

Time to put away the tape & wrapping paper (there's still 9 days till Christmas before you need to have all your wrapping done), put away the list of "Christmas Presents To Make" (because if you haven't made the "perfect" gift yet, you probably won't find the time now since Christmas is only a 9 days away, after all - lol) and get cozy with a hot drink (the North wind is blowing something awful and that will warm you right up) because it's time for a new challenge over at Clear It Out Challenge. And once again out fearless leader, Laura, has come up with another GREAT challenge for us this week.  So let's get out our paper, scissors, and glue . . .

For this week's challenge, I chose this cute little digi that was a "freebie" on Melonheadz.  It came both pre-colored and black & white, so I decided to use the pre-colored image this time.  I paired it with several different papers from MME lines along with flowers from Prima, some fibers and enamel dots also from MME.  Here's how it turned out:

Pretty cute, don't you think?

Remember, you have one week to get your projects in so you can be eligible for the weekly prize which is from Melonheadz this week.  Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!!!

HIMCR #178 - Super Scraps Saturday

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

Here is it the 2nd Saturday of the month already
and you know what that means, don't you???

Yes, I know . . . there's only 12 days left till Christmas. Yikes!!!
But do you know what else that means???

That's right!!!  Not only is it time for a new challenge over at Hiding In My Craft Room, but it's time for Super Scraps Saturday!!  (Which you all already know it's my FAVORITE challenge because I love having to use my scraps . . . not that I have that many of them. lol)

The sponsor is The Paper Shelter!
The giveaway is a $20 gift certificate to The Paper Shelter!!!

So let's get out those scraps and get to craftin'!!!

For this week's challenge, I chose "Gingerbread House" digi from The Paper Shelter and paired it with some scraps from my "Good Cheer" 8x8 paper pad from October Afternoon and some corrugated kraft paper and Green Jelly Bean paper from PaperTemptress along with some Marochino Cherry Twine from The Twinery. Here's how it turned out:

Just love how The Paper Shelter offers their digi images in both pre-colored and in black/white.  For this card, I used the pre-colored image because I just loved the colors they had used.  There was coordinating paper, but I decided not to use it.

Remember, you have one week to get your scrappy projects in at HIMCR in order to be eligible for the weekly prize which is a $20 gift certificate to The Paper Shelter!!!

Till the next time I'm up in the night.

and you know what that means, don't you???

That's right . . . not only is it time for a new challenge over at Hiding In My Craft Room, but it's time for a "color" challenge.  This week the challenge is to use Christmas colors . . . this can be whatever colors you like to use at Christmastime.

The sponsor is Papertemptress.com
The giveaway is a pack of Christmas papers from Papertemptress.com!

For this week's challenge I did a few CAS cards using some papers that PaperTemptress sent all of us along with some YUMMY ribbone - red/green ladder ribbon!!!  That's right!  PaperTemptress also has ribbon in addition to all the AMAZING papers.  Here's two (2) of the cards I did this week (I will post more throughout the week):

For this first card, I used Opal Mica/Metallic paper along with some
printed paper (on Lime Mica/Metallic paper) and some red-green ladder ribbon.

For the second card, I used White Sparkle Tinsel/Glitter on Candido Incandescent paper from PaperTemptress to give it even more texture . . . the Candido Incandescent gives it a great shimmer under the tinsel/glitter.  Put that together with the Red Pepper Thick Column paper and I had a GREAT child's CAS card.

Remember,  you have one week to get your "Christmas Colors" projects in at Hiding In My Craft Room in order to be eligible for the Christmas Paper Package from PaperTemptress . . . believe me, you don't want to miss out!!!

But if you can't wait and get some paper now, PaperTemptress has a Christmas Paper Package on sale for 25% along with all the Kraft paper and Mica/Metallic papers. And Patricia hasn't stopped there . . . all ribbon is 50% off and Cryogen White paper is 30% this month.   Basically, all you would need to finish up your Christmas cards.

Clear It Out Challenge - Circles

Does anyone know what time it is?

That's right . . .

It's CHALLENGE time!!!

Time to put away the Christmas wrapping paper (still have a few weeks to wrap presents), turn of the daytime dramas & crank up the radio (who am I kidding? I don't watch any daytime dramas anymore . . . have too many FUN things to do, plus with my new "music" program for my Cochlear Implant, I am now able to have some upbeat rhythms when I craft...even when I'm cleaning. Oops, sorry for the "dirty" word again. - lol) . . . and get out your paper, scissors, and glue because it's time for a new challenge at Clear It Out Challenge. And Laura, our fearless leader, has come up with another GREAT challenge for us this week . . . so easy, peasy . . .

HIMCR #176 - "Freestyle"

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

I hope everyone had a VERY Happy (and safe) Thanksgiving (for those who live in the U.S.) and was able to spend time with their families.  I know I did . . . my whole family (parents, siblings, spouses and kids) were here, well except for my brother's boys, who ended up spending Thanksgiving with their mom since my brother gets them for Christmas.  But all-in-all, it was a GREAT day of food, family and FUN!!!
Well, here it is the last Saturday of the month
and you know what that means, right???

That's right . . . not only is it time for a new challenge over at
Hiding In My Craft Room, but it's time for a "Freestyle" challenge.

The sponsor this week is Die Cuts with a View!
The giveaway is $100 in DCWV goodies!!!

And there will be 3 winners! YEAH!!!
(That makes me wish I could be eligible.)

Triple the winners, triple the FUN!!!

You can check out the latest DCWV products HERE.

For this week's challenge, I did a card DCWV's Corrugate Mat Stack and Cork Solids Mat Stack along with a new stamp set I got from Verve called "Pink Power", .  I made this card so I can send it to a friend who is dealing with breast cancer.  Here's how it turned out:

Clear It Out Challenge - Winter Wishes

Does anyone know what time it is?

That's right . . .

It's CHALLENGE time!!!

Once again, time for a new challenge over at Clear It Out Challenge
It is time to put away the duster
(don't need those dust "bunnies" since there'll be turkey in 2 days on Thanksgiving - lol),
turn off the phone (it's only telemarketers, right?,
and time to get your crafty on!!! And, as usual, our fearless
leader, Laura, has come up with another AMAZING challenge
for us.   So easy, peasy, lemon squeesy . . .

 Are you ready???

I didn't hear you . . .

Are you ready???

Okay, it's challenge time!!!

Theme:  Winter Wishes
Stash: snowflakes (embellishments or paper)

And you have one (1) week to play (till December 1st)

This week our sponsor is:

For this week's challenge, I chose a cute little image called "Snowy Days with Rory" from Lacy Sunshine. I chose her . . . well, mainly because the Rory images are so darn cute!!!  I just love Lacy Sunshine's digi images. And since the theme this week is "Winter Wishes", I thought "Snowy Days" Rory would be perfect.  So combining it with a new snowflake border die and some of my favorite PaperTemptress papers, I went to work.  Here's how it turned out:

Supplies:
Jupiter Red mica/metallic paper from PaperTemptress
Cryogen Iridescent paper from PaperTemptress
"Frostyville Frame" die (#98718) by Memory Box, Inc.
paper flowers from Bazzil Paper Basics
Frosty Lace Stickles
Copics

One thing I was disappointed about was the die . . . I had to run it thru twice to get all the cuts.  And then have to be really careful taking it out . . . the little designs get "stuck" while getting it loose from the paper.  But all-in-all, I am really happy with the way it turned out . . . and I love learning something new or a new trick.  With this one, I now know with such an intricate designed die, to run it thru twice, use an extra shim if necessary and to go slow when taking it out.

Remember, you have one week till December 1st to get your "Winter Wishes" projects in to Clear It Out Challenge in order to be eligible for the weekly prize.  What will your "Winter Wishes" be?

Till the next time I'm up in the night.

HIMCR #175 - Any Holiday

Hi,  all my crafty friends and family!!!

Here it is Saturday once again
and you know what that means, don't you?

That's right . . . not only is it time for a new challenge over at Hiding In My Craft Room, but it is time for an "Any Holiday" theme.  It can be ANY holiday, as long as it's a holiday.  So take time to get caught up on past holidays or get to working on your Christmas cards!!!

The sponsor is Serri Baldy's My Besties!
The giveaway is all 4 Digital images used by our HICMR Design Team!!

For this week's challenge, I chose the girl with an ornament form Sherri Baldy's My Besties . . . I think it's 029?  Since I still had out my gold embossing powder, some of my all-time favorite paper from PaperTemptress and other craftin' supplies, I decided to try something different on the ornament.  I used a glue pen to adhere the embossing powder and then heat embossed it.  Here's how it turned out:

Supplies:
My Besties digi's image from Sherri Baldy
White Crepe (ruche) paper from PaperTemptress
White Leather paper from PaperTemptress
Red Small Column paper from PaperTemptress
"Festive" 6x6 paper pad by Authentique (red/cream stripe)
Metallic Gold Sparkle Embossing Powder
"Frosty Lace" Stickles
flowers from BBP (BazzillBasicsPaper)
misc. gems
Squeeze & Roll glue pen by Zig
Copics

When I was doing the ornament, I practiced a few times to see if it would work and what worked best.  Here's a few things I leaned and preferred.  One was using a glue pen (actually looks like a ball point pen and is called "Quickie Glue") so I could get those curves of the "snow" just right . . . and while it did do a good job with the curves, I found the glue dried too quick to do the whole ornament at once.  So I got a bigger glue pen - Zig's "Squeeze & Roll".  This pen is a bit bigger and the more you squeeze it, the more glue comes out . . . so by the time I got done putting glue on the whole ornament, the part around the curves was just starting to dry, but not that much because my embossing powder still held.  After figuring what glue pen worked best for me, I then heat embossed it . . . and it left a wonderful texture, just like glittered ornaments at the store.  I then used "Frosty Lace" Stickles for the "snow" . . . and due to the embossing, it was easy to put the Stickles in the curves.  So all-in-all, I was happy with my little "experiment". :)

Remember, you have one week to get your project in to Hiding In My Craft Room in order to be eligible for the weekly prize.  I wonder what holiday you will be working on?  I can't wait to see!!!!

Till the next time I'm up in the night.
