Clear It Out Challenge - Blues

Does anyone know what time it is?

That's right . . .

It's CHALLENGE time!!!

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!  Once again, it's challenge time over at Clear It Out Challenge.  Time to clear away your crafty space and get your crafty on.  And usual, our fearless leader, Laura,  has come up with another amazing challenge for us . . . and it's so easy, peasy!!!  So get out your paper, scissors, glue  and . . .

 Are you ready???

I didn't hear you . . .

Are you ready???

Okay, it's challenge time!!!

Theme:  Blues
Stash: Twine/Fibers\
(basically, anything goes or you can add a present)

You have 1 weeks to play (till Feb. 3rd)

This week our sponsor is:

For this week's challenge, I chose to use "Wix-Moonlighter" from Lacy Sunshine because how much "bluer" can you get than the night sky?  And since the theme was "blues", I decided to do my image a little different by coloring her hair blue, too. Here's how my card turned out:

Supplies:
Kate & Co paper collection by MME
misc. clear fibers (to give the moon and chains  more texture)
Scrap Dots 3D adhesive
Copics:
BG70, BG72, BG72 (hair)
Y15, R32 (pjs)
E000, E00, E01 (skin)
G09 (eyes)
B95, B97, B99 (lanterns)
Y15 (candle flame)
Y11 (glow around flame)
Y000 (glow in lantern)
Y0000, Y000, Y00, Y11 (moon & stars)
BG0000, BG000, BG10 (halo)

I wish I could get a better picture of the fibers I used . . . it is harder than taking a good picture of glitter. But they really are more for texture than show.  Though one of these days I will either figure it out or get a better camera . . . or both. :)

Remember, you have one week to get your project in to CIO to be eligible for the prize . . . can hardly wait to see what everyone comes up with.

Till the next time I'm up in the night.  Kathy

Get Inky! Challenge #3 "Newspaper"

Hi, all my family and friends!!!

Today I am here to invite you or remind you of a new challenge over at Get Inky! Challenge.  And I want to show you a different interpretation of "newspaper". :)

I used this digi paper for another challenge this week and has lots of scraps leftover.  And when I was looking at my "sample" paper (a page with all the papers in 1.5" squares), it reminded me of how newspapers uses different dot patterns to come up with certain colors for cartoons . . . and the yellow with red pin dots paper reminded me of "Batman & Robin".  You know, the old 1950s or 1960s version?  Well, keeping that in mind and the fact that I had a lot of "strips" leftover from my other card this week, I decided to do another card using them along with Get Inky!'s "Moon & Stars" stamp set.  Here's how it turned out:

In addition to the digi paper "Relaxing by the Sea" by Template Dreams, I also used star confetti by UmWowStudio.  I hope you like my interpretation of "Newspaper" this week.

Now let GET INKY!!!

Till the next time I'm up in the night.  Kathy

HIMCR - #134

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

Here it is the 4th Saturday of the month . . .
and do you know what that means?

It means it is once again time for a new challenge at Hiding In My Craft Room.  And since it is the 4th Saturday of the month, it means it is a "freestyle" challenge . . . so this week the challenge is to do a project "For Someone You Love".  And I am here to encourage you to get out your paper, scissors and glue so you can join us for this fun challenge. Remember, you have one week to submit your project(s) on HIMCR to be eligible for a gift certificate to Template Dreams.

Template Dreams let us chose a digi kit to play around with this week . . . and I chose to play with "Relaxing by the Sea" kit.  Originally, I was going to do a layout, but for some reason my printer would not cooperate with me.  It would start to print, then stop and restart . . leaving me with multiple "strips" of paper.  So I eventually gave up and decided to do a card with my paper "strips".  Here's how it turned out:

In addition to the digi paper from Template Dreams, I also used metal gems and a sentiment stamp from Close To My Heart on this car.  And honestly, I am happier with this card than I think I would have been with a layout.  What do you think?

Till the next time I'm up in the night.  Kathy

Stash: Anything Goes\

And you have 1 week to play (till Jan. 27th)

This week our sponsor is:

For this week's challenge, I chose "Bubble Trouble" by Digi Blessings who is one of the artists that Stitchy Bear has available at their shop...this week we are showcasing three (3) different artists from Stitchy Bear.  Here's how my card turned out:

Supplies:
"Happy Day" 6x6 paper pad by MME
"Ooh La La" 6x6 paper pad by MME (pink paper)
"Crystal" Stickles (water & bubbles)
Helmar ScrapDots Adhesive
Copics:
C1, C3, & C5 (elephant)
R000 (trunk, ear)
BG72, BG75 (bowl)
G21, G23 (grass)
BG0000, BG000, BG10 (halo)

I decided to "copy" a card I did last month for one of  my CIO challenge projects . . . "Cup o' Heart Chocolate" for the "Warm and Fuzzy" mid-challenge inspiration for the December 17th challenge.  I really like how this card looks so much different with lighter and brighter colors. :)

Till the next time I'm up in the night.  Kathy

HIMCR #133 - and here's another . . .

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

As I mentioned yesterday, The Paper Temptress is our sponsor this week over at Hiding In My Craft Room.  And Patricia so generously let each of us pick out 6 different types of paper along with some Cyrogen White paper.  Cyrogen White paper is GREAT to use with stamping and Copics.  I was able to get six (6) different cards . . . well, it was actually seven (7) since I did a 7th for a blog hop yesterday with some of the scraps I had leftover.  So I am going to be posting them throughout the week when I don't have another blog post scheduled.

If you haven't seen the cards from yesterday, click HERE to see the one I did for HIMCR and click HERE to see the one I did for Get Inky! blog hop with some of the scraps I had leftover from the paper I received from The Paper Temptress.

For the following card, I used the Cryogen White paper to stamp my hearts and the Onyx Mica/Metallic paper for the rest.  I just love the mica/metallic paper . . . it gives a card the glittery look without the glitter.  It would be GREAT to use for an Operation Write Home card. :)  Here's how my card turned out:

I did a card similar to this a few years ago using pink and black paper, along with ribbon . . . plus, I colored my hearts with my Copics.  (If I can find a picture of it, I will post it.)  But after doing it in just black and white, I have decided I like the simplicity of the black and white. What do you think?

Remember, to check in each day this week to see the rest of the cards I was able to make with the wonderful paper.  Also, you still have six (6) days to get your project(s) in over at HIMCR to be eligible for a $25 gift certificate to The Paper Temptress . . . what an AMAZING prize!!! (I wish I could be eligible. )

Till the next time I'm up in the night.  Kathy

NOTE:  When I make my cards, I make the card fronts first, then add a card base when I am ready to give it to someone.  Not only does this help save on space, but it allows me to use a less expensive plain cardstock for the card base(s). Plus, it allows me to save my special papers for even more cards. :)

Get Inky! Blog Hop

If you are arriving here for Hiding In My Craft Room's weekly challenge, please click HERE.

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

Welcome to the Get Inky! Farewell and Welcome Blog Hop.  You should have arrived here from Julie's blog.  If you happened to have stumbled onto the hop mid-way, be sure to start at the Get Inky! Challenge Blog for a chance to win a fun prize.

The blog hop is saying "goodbye" to our previous team members and welcoming our current members . . . some of whom are new to Get Inky!

For my project, I decided to use some scraps I had leftover from The Paper Temptress who is the current sponsor for my Hiding In My Craft Room Design Team challenge . . . I used the Black Mica/Metallic, Red Mica/Metallic and White Leather.  The paper is just marvelous and such GREAT texture . . . and it worked wonderful with the Get Inky! stamps I decided to use from the "Sew Sweet Cupcake" stamp set.  So in keeping with the  "Clean and Simple" style, here's what I came up with:

Here's a close-up of the card so you can see the texture of the mica and leather paper:

As you can see, the leather paper does have a texture . . . so when stamping on it you want to have a "cushion" behind it and make sure your stamp is good quality so you can put pressure on it without it smudging.  Get Inky! stamps were PERFECT for this!!!

Now for the fun part . . . Leave a comment on each blog along the way and you will be entered to win one of three year-long Inky Moonbeam memberships!  To see what the club is all about, visit www.bluemooncreation.net.

I am so glad you stopped by and look forwar to inspiring you further.  Now off you go to La-Vie to check out what she created.

Here's a blog line up list in case you need it:

HIMCR - #133

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

Here it is the 3rd Saturday of the month . . .
and do you know what that means?

It means it is once again time for a new challenge at Hiding In My Craft Room.  And since it is the 3rd Saturday of the month, it means it is a "technique" challenge . . . so this week the challenge is to do a CAS (clean & simple) card.  So I am here to encourage you to clear a spot in your crafty area and get out your paper, scissors and glue so you can join us for this amazingly fun challenge. Remember, you have one week to submit your projects on HIMCR to be eligible for a gift certificate to The Paper Temptress.

The Paper Temptress let us chose several different papers to play with this week.  I decided to use Onyx Mica/Metallic, Red Licorice Glossy, and Vintage Silver Lustre papers for my first card.  Here's how it turned out:

I used three (3) different sizes of circle punches to make the faux embossed top, used miscellaneous gems on the red strip and a "Thanks" stamp from Close To My Heart. As Patricia from The Paper Temptress has said, it is hard getting a good picture of the Lustre paper . . . but if you look closely, you can see the texture of it.  It truly is a beautiful paper and pictures do not do it justice.

Originally, I did a total of six (6) cards with the paper I received from Patricia . . . but since I had still had some scraps, I did a 7th card and used it for a blog hop (which you can see HERE) Otherwise, check back each day this week to see the other six (6) cards I have done with this GREAT paper from The Paper Temptress.

Till the next time I'm up in the night. Kathy

Clear It Out Challenge - Layer It Up

Does anyone know what time it is?

That's right . . .

It's CHALLENGE time!!!

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

Once again, it's challenge time over at Clear It Out Challenge.  Time to put away the groceries and put away the bills . . .   and get your crafty on.  And usual, our AMAZINGLY fearless leader, Laura,  has come up with yet another AWESOME challenge for us . . . and it's so easy, peasy!!! So get out your paper, scissors, glue  and . . .

 Are you ready???

I didn't hear you . . .

Are you ready???

Okay, it's challenge time!!!

Theme:  Layer It Up
Stash: Designer Papers\

And you have 1 week to play (till Jan. 20th)

This week our sponsor is:

For this week's challenge, I choose an adorable digi image called "Snow Mail" from StampArt by Kathryne . . . and it came with some bonus sentiments. Here's how my card turned out:

Supplies:
PB&J paper collection by Basic Grey
Indie Girl paper collection by Sassafras
miscellaneous gems
Stickles - Crystal
Liquid Pearls - Opal
Copics -
G0000, BG000 & B000 (snowman & snow)
C1 & C3 (shadow on snow & postcard)
R24 & R27 (bird, heart)
E44 & E47 (twig arms)
B95, B97, Y21 (hat, scarf & buttons)
BG0000, BG000, BG10 ("halo")

As you may notice, this card is a "copy" of a card that I did a week or two ago.  This is because I got my themes mixed up this week.  I thought this week was to copy a project I did.  But when I went to post it, I realized the theme was "Layer It Up". Oops! Thankfully the card still worked because not only did I really like my card, but I LOVED how my image turned out and didn't want to try to color it again. :)

As I said, this is a "copy" but you will notice a few differences --- the banners are different, the red gems are bigger and the turquoise ones are smaller & in a different location. Also, the turquoise paper is from another paper collection --- "Indie Girl" by Sassafras.  The rest of the paper is "PB&J" paper from Basic Grey. I also used "Crystal" Stickles on the snow and "Opal" Liquid Pearls on the snowman's hat.  So even though I "copied" this card, I think it turned out pretty good (again). lol  What can I say? . . . once I make/design something or find a color combination I really like, I like to use it again. Or as some say "Why mess with a good thing?"

Till the next time I'm up in the night.  Kathy

Get Inky! - Challenge #2

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

How are we doing this fine, fine Monday?  Ready to begin a brand-new week?  I know I am . . . and I am here to help you get inspired for Get Inky!'s current challenge - "Quilt Inspired".  How FUN is that?!?!

When I found out the theme for this week's challenge, I was so excited . . . because for those who know me, know I like quilts. Okay, I LOVE quilts and I LOVE to make them!!!  So to do a project combining two of my favorite hobbies, I was so very excited.

For my inspiration, I used a quilt I made my daughter when she was little and her favorite book "Goodnight Moon". For this card, I used Get Inky!'s  "Whimsical Moon and Stars" stamps set and a "stitching square" from an upcoming new release (just wait till you see the whole set...it is so CUTE!!!) . Here's how it turned out:

Supplies:
"Whimsical Moon and Stars" stamp set by Get Inky!
"Be Amazing" from Follow Your Heart 6x6 paper pad from MME
Stickles - "Crystal"
Momento ink
Copics
Helmar Scrap Dots and 450 Quick Dry Adhesive

Remember, you have till Wednesday, January 15th, to get your "quilt" inspired project(s) in to Get Inky!  I can hardly wait to see what everyone comes up with.

So . . . Let's GET INKY!!!

Till the next time I'm up in the night.  Kathy

PS I just noticed that my blog graphics are missing . . . that everything is plain. Not sure what has happened, but I will try to get this figured out soon.  But remember, I am not very "computer" literate when it comes to setting up a blog (lol) and will probably have to get some help again from my online friends. :)  Till then, please bear with the plainess of my blog.

HIMCR #132 - Super Scraps Saturday

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

Here it is the 2nd Saturday of the month . . .
and do you know what that means?

It means it is once again time for the Super Scraps Saturday challenge at Hiding In My Craft Room.  And I am here to encourage you to clear a spot in your crafty area and get out your scraps so you can join us for this amazingly fun challenge. Remember, you have one week to submit your projects on HIMCR to be eligible for 3 digital stamps from our amazing sponsor, Little Miss Muffet digi stamps.

Anyway, Little Miss Muffet gave us some cute digi stamps to play with this week . . . and I decided to use the Hot Air BalloonI ended up doing a pretty simple card due to not being able to sit or stand for very long . . . long story short, I dislodged my peg-tube and have been horizontal for almost 2 weeks. But not to worry, I did see the doctor and have been referred to a surgeon to have it removed. Yay!!!  I have been wanting it removed for like . . . well, FOREVER!!!

Anyway, here's what I came up with:

I used scraps from "Everyday Eclectic" paper collection by Echo Park that I had also used on a card earlier this week.  I also used "Ruby Red" Liquid Pearls for a little extra splash of color on the hot air balloon and at the upper corner.  All-in-all, I am pretty happy with it . . . so bright and cheery. :)

Now remember you have one (1) week to get your project done and entered.  Hope to see you soon!!!

Till the next time I'm up in the night.  Kathy

Clear It Out Challenge - Thank You

Does anyone know what time it is?

That's right . . .

It's CHALLENGE time!!!

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!  Once again, it's challenge time over at Clear It Out Challenge.  Time to clear away the dishes, clear away any remaining Christmas or New Year's "stuff", and anything else that has stockpiled in your crafty space this past month or so . . .   and get your crafty on.

Theme:  Thank You
Stash: buttons\
(basically, anything goes or you can add a present)

And since it is the New Year, Clear It Out Challenge is doing something new this year.  Instead of only 2 challenges a month, we will be having a NEW challenge EACH week with a different sponsor.  So this time you have 1 weeks to play (till Jan. 13th)

This week our sponsor is:

For this week's challenge, I chose a cute little digi image from Bugaboo, called "Thanks a Latte" because looking at it made me feel all warm inside . . . and with the weather being what it has been, I need all the warmth I can get. lol  Here's how it turned out:

I used "Everyday Eclectic" paper collection by Echo Park along with a misc. button and some twine from The Twinery.  I also used Opal Liquid Pearls for the "whipped cream" on the lattes. All-in-all, pretty simple!

Till the next time I'm up in the night.  Kathy

HIMCR #131 - Crushed Gray Bay

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!!

Is everyone enjoying the few warm days we are getting?  Okay, not exactly warm, but definitely warmer than it has been. Around here the highs had been in the single digits and the lows below 0 . . . so with the past couple days being up in the mid to upper 20s, it almost feels like a heatwave.  But it won't last long because they are saying by Monday the high will be -5 with windchill around -45 . . . BRRRR, I am getting cold just thinking about it.  I think it's time for "Spring Break" . . . don't you agree?  But, while we wait for Spring Break to arrive, let's find something else fun to do?!?!  And what is more fun than a color challenge?

Here it is the 1st Saturday of the month and do you know what that means?  It means it's time for another Hiding In My Craft Room challenge and since it's the 1st Saturday of the month, it means the challenge it a "Color" challenge . . . so this time we challenge you to use Crushed Curry, Basic Grey and Bermuda Bay.  (These are Stampin' Up colors, but you can use any colors close to them.)

We  also have an A-W-E-S-O-M-E sponsor this week --- Scrapbook Stamp Society --- and the winner will receive four (4) digital images from My Besties.  How FUN is that?!?!  So let's get started . . .

This month Scrapbook Stamp Society gave us several digi images to choose from . . . and, boy, was it hard to choose.  They were all so cute.  But I did end up choosing "Hearts a Flutter".  Here's how my card turned out:

Copics:
E42, E44, E47 (boy's hair)
YG17 (boy's eyes)
C1, C3, C5 (boy's pants)
C7, C9, 100 (boy's shoes)
Y21, Y26, Y28 (girl's hair)
YG17 (girl's eyes)
BG32, BG34 (girl's dress, shoes, headband & bow)
R32, Y38 (flowers)
E000, E00, E11 (skin)
BG0000, BG000, BG10 (halo effect)

I used "PB&J" paper collection by Basic Grey and some miscellaneous gems for this card.  The banner/pendants are part of a sticker from the sticker sheet in the "PB&J" paper collection.  I know "red" wasn't part of the color choices . . . BUT I used just a tiny bit for that little extra "POP".  Plus, the red paper had blue polka dots on it. :)

Now it is YOUR turn to get your crafty on.  I can hardly wait to see what you come up with for this challenge . . . and to see what each and every one of you come up with this new year.

Till the next time I'm up in the night.  Kathy

PS  Just a quick note, when I was making final touches and double-checking links to this post, the link (www.scrapbookstampsociety.com) for Scrapbook Stamp Society was not working, so I used a different link provided by HIMCR.  Thanks!!!

Hap-Bee New Year! and the challenge is to use 14 embellishments.  Fun, right?!?!

I was give the cutest digi stamp to play with which you can find in their etsy store.  And here's what I came up with:

I used "The Good Life" paper collection by Echo Park along with some Hexagon Background chipboard & Star Confetti by UmWowSutdio.  I finished it off with some black gems and some red bling.  Voila!  It was done!
