HIMCR #132 - Super Scraps Saturday

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!  

Here it is the 2nd Saturday of the month . . . 

and do you know what that means?  

It means it is once again time for the Super Scraps Saturday challenge at Hiding In My Craft Room.  And I am here to encourage you to clear a spot in your crafty area and get out your scraps so you can join us for this amazingly fun challenge. Remember, you have one week to submit your projects on HIMCR to be eligible for 3 digital stamps from our amazing sponsor, Little Miss Muffet digi stamps.  

Anyway, Little Miss Muffet gave us some cute digi stamps to play with this week . . . and I decided to use the Hot Air Balloon. I ended up doing a pretty simple card due to not being able to sit or stand for very long . . . long story short, I dislodged my peg-tube and have been horizontal for almost 2 weeks. But not to worry, I did see the doctor and have been referred to a surgeon to have it removed. Yay!!!  I have been wanting it removed for like . . . well, FOREVER!!! 

Anyway, here's what I came up with:

I used scraps from "Everyday Eclectic" paper collection by Echo Park that I had also used on a card earlier this week.  I also used "Ruby Red" Liquid Pearls for a little extra splash of color on the hot air balloon and at the upper corner.  All-in-all, I am pretty happy with it . . . so bright and cheery. :)

For this week's challenge, I chose a cute little digi image from Bugaboo, called "Thanks a Latte" because looking at it made me feel all warm inside . . . and with the weather being what it has been, I need all the warmth I can get. lol  Here's how it turned out:

I used "Everyday Eclectic" paper collection by Echo Park along with a misc. button and some twine from The Twinery.  I also used Opal Liquid Pearls for the "whipped cream" on the lattes. All-in-all, pretty simple!

HIMCR #131 - Crushed Gray Bay

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!!

Is everyone enjoying the few warm days we are getting?  Okay, not exactly warm, but definitely warmer than it has been. Around here the highs had been in the single digits and the lows below 0 . . . so with the past couple days being up in the mid to upper 20s, it almost feels like a heatwave.  But it won't last long because they are saying by Monday the high will be -5 with windchill around -45 . . . BRRRR, I am getting cold just thinking about it.  I think it's time for "Spring Break" . . . don't you agree?  But, while we wait for Spring Break to arrive, let's find something else fun to do?!?!  And what is more fun than a color challenge?

Here it is the 1st Saturday of the month and do you know what that means?  It means it's time for another Hiding In My Craft Room challenge and since it's the 1st Saturday of the month, it means the challenge it a "Color" challenge . . . so this time we challenge you to use Crushed Curry, Basic Grey and Bermuda Bay.  (These are Stampin' Up colors, but you can use any colors close to them.)

We  also have an A-W-E-S-O-M-E sponsor this week --- Scrapbook Stamp Society --- and the winner will receive four (4) digital images from My Besties.  How FUN is that?!?!  So let's get started . . .   

This month Scrapbook Stamp Society gave us several digi images to choose from . . . and, boy, was it hard to choose.  They were all so cute.  But I did end up choosing "Hearts a Flutter".  Here's how my card turned out:

I used "PB&J" paper collection by Basic Grey and some miscellaneous gems for this card.  The banner/pendants are part of a sticker from the sticker sheet in the "PB&J" paper collection.  I know "red" wasn't part of the color choices . . . BUT I used just a tiny bit for that little extra "POP".  Plus, the red paper had blue polka dots on it. :)

Get Inky! Challenge #1 Hap-Bee New Year!

hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

I am so excited to be here today . . . not only is it the beginning of a new year, but it is also the beginning of a new Design Team for me.  Get Inky! stamps asked me to be a full-fledged Design Team member.  Yay!  And today is their first challenge of the year . . . Hap-Bee New Year! and the challenge is to use 14 embellishments.  Fun, right?!?!

I was give the cutest digi stamp to play with which you can find in their etsy store.  And here's what I came up with:

I used "The Good Life" paper collection by Echo Park along with some Hexagon Background chipboard & Star Confetti by UmWowSutdio.  I finished it off with some black gems and some red bling.  Voila!  It was done!

Mid-Challenge Inspiration - Warm/Fuzzy

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!  

Is everyone rested up from Christmas and getting ready to ring in the New Year?  I know I am . . . well, almost.  I still need to get my ingredients for our "New Recipe" day we do on New Year's Day . . . usually, we have friends and family over to try out "new" recipes and it is always so much fun.  This year, though, it may just be me and my family since my hubby has to go to work the very next day . . . but we will still have fun trying out a couple new recipes I have found. 

Anyway, I am here today to to remind you that you still have one (1) week to complete a project for Clear It Out Challenge.  The theme is "Warm / Fuzzy" and the stash item is something textured.  Here's a little card I put together for just for this challenge:

When I saw this digi image, "Cup 'O Heart Chocolate" by Digi Darla Designs, it reminded me of a mug I had in my cupboard . . . and how whenever I used it, it made me feel "warm & fuzzy" all over.  So I decided I had to use it for this challenge.  I used Stickles for my texture . . . if you look, you will see that the dots and marshmallows are raised up a bit.  That is because I applied my Stickles twice to achieve the effect I wanted . . . plus, it would match my own mug. :)  (Note: I did try to apply a large amount of Stickles at once, but it warped my paper a bit . . . not a lot, but enough that I wanted to try to do it another way before going on with my card.) I also used Stickles for the heart above the mug.

Another thing I did was use the label "Very Merry Christmas" from the bottom of my papers as my title . . . you know, the piece you always cut off to get your paper 12x12?  I matted it first, then used Scrap Dots for more dimension.  I also used Scrap Dots on my middle banner to help show the layers.

And "Voila!" I was done.  It was a pretty easy card to put together.  Now remember that you still have one (1) week to get your project posted to Clear It Out Challenge.  I can't wait to see what you come up with as one of your final projects of the year . . . I can hardly believe that 2014 is right upon us.

PS  For those who emailed, the figures behind my card are my Jim Shore Santa figurines . . . I love Jim Shore because of the folk artsy/quilty look to them.  This is the first year in over 10 years that I didn't get any of the new releases for the Santa, Nativity Scene or Snowman.

HIMCR #130 - Anything BUT Christmas

Hi, all my crafty friends and family!!!

I hope and pray everyone had a VERY Merry Christmas this past week . . . and are now getting ready to ring the new year!!!  

Here it is Saturday once again and do you know what that means?  Well, since it is the weekend after Christmas, it means that most of you are either getting geared up or resting from a day or two of "After Christmas" shopping. It also means it is time for another AMAZING challenge at Hiding In My Craft Room.  Usually, it is time for "Freestyle" week, but since so many of us are so done, done, done with making Christmas cards, Christmas candies, Christmas cookies, Christmas shopping, etc.,  this week's theme is "Anything BUT Christmas".  

And I am here to encourage all of you to put away your car keys and wallets . . . and get out your scissors, paper and adhesive so you can join us for this fun challenge. Remember, you have one week to submit your projects on HIMCR to be eligible for the weekly prize. 

Originally, I was working on a layout to share today.  But due to the busyness of the holiday, I decided to share a birthday card I made.  I did one similar back in June ("Polka or Not to Polka"), but since I liked the colors and sketch so much along the stamp that I used, I had to make it again.  Here's how it turned out:

Usually, I just use a small brush when using my Twinkling H2Os . . . but this time, I also used  a "detail" watercolor brush in the smaller areas.  It helped me so much with the small detail areas and kept my "painting" from looking like a kindergartner . . . it helped me stay in the lines.  As I mentioned before in another post, I usually spray my Twinkling H2Os 3x with water and let it set for a few minutes to "activate".  If you don't do this, your color will be watery . . . not very vibrant.  

So once again, I am happy with my "make it again" project . . . is there a project you have made again and again?

Get Inky! Challenge #20 - Winter/Snow

Hi, to all my crafty friends and family!!!

Did everyone have a good holiday?  I know I did . . . it was full of family, friends, and FOOD! (Well, and a little crafting on the side for me. lol)  It is always so fun to get together and give thanks for the reason for this season . . . and to reflect back on the "good ole days".  (Makes me sound old, doesn't it? lol)

Anyway, over at Get Inky! Challenge blog, they are having a new challenge and the theme is "Winter/Snow" . . . so easy, peasy!  Well, when I think of winter, I think of Christmas, Christmas carols, evergreens, and such.  So when I received this digi "Color Merry Christmas Tree", I knew I needed to use it as my challenge inspiration.  (Get Inky! stamps has some GREAT digi images, so make sure you check them out.)

Here's how my card turned out:

As some of you might recognize, I came up with this same sketch and used this paper a couple weeks ago for Super Scraps Saturday for Hiding In My Craft Room . . . but what can I say?  When you find or do something good, you keep it. :) (But I did add a few different items to it to work with my digi image.) 

For this card, I used "Very Merry Christmas" paper collection from Echo Park. I also used ribbon from Snug Hug; red bling from  "Holly Jolly" mini jewels by TPC Studio; and "Vintage Finds" gems and pearls by Teresa Collins . . . and Voila! it was done.

Well, it's time to have a Midnight snack . . . I wonder if there's any leftovers left?  I sure hope so. :)
